Excessive Sweating & Hyperhidrosis

A recognised medical condition, assessed and treated with genuine care.

Medical Treatment · Excessive Sweating

A medical treatment for excessive underarm sweating, provided only after a personalised consultation and assessment.

Excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, is a recognised medical condition where the body sweats far more than it needs to for temperature control. When it affects the underarms, it can mean sweating that soaks through clothing, visible marks that appear regardless of the weather or how active you are, frequent outfit changes, and a very real impact on confidence at work, socially and in everyday life. It is more common than many people realise, and importantly, it is not simply a matter of hygiene or nerves.

At Plump, this concern is treated with understanding and as a genuine medical matter. Our focus is on assessing what you are experiencing and, where appropriate, offering a considered treatment option so you can feel more comfortable and confident day to day.

How we approach it

Care begins with a thorough consultation and assessment with Nurse Caitlin, to understand how excessive sweating is affecting you, review your history, and determine whether treatment is appropriate for you. Where clinically suitable, a treatment may be recommended to help reduce excessive sweating in the underarm area.

This treatment involves a prescription medicine. Australian law does not allow prescription medicines to be described or promoted in public information, so the specific details, including how it works, what it involves, the expected outcomes and the associated risks, can only be discussed with you privately during your consultation, and only after an appropriate practitioner has assessed you and determined it is suitable. There is no obligation to proceed.

What to expect

Any benefit from this type of treatment develops over a period of time rather than immediately, and is not permanent, so treatment may be repeated periodically to maintain comfort. A review may be recommended to assess how you have responded. Results vary from person to person, and no particular outcome is guaranteed. Suitability, expected benefits, alternatives and all associated risks will be explained fully during your consultation so you can make an informed decision in your own time.

This treatment may be considered for

  • Excessive or persistent underarm sweating that affects daily life
  • Adults seeking a medically-guided, individually-assessed approach

Frequently asked questions

What is hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for sweating that is greater than the body needs for normal temperature regulation. When it affects the underarms it is called axillary hyperhidrosis, and it can occur even when you are cool, calm and at rest.

Is it just a hygiene or confidence issue?

No. Hyperhidrosis is a genuine medical condition and is not a reflection of hygiene or simply feeling nervous. Many people find it affects their clothing choices, comfort and confidence, and seeking help is completely reasonable.

Can you tell me more about the treatment itself on this page?

Not in detail. Because the treatment involves a prescription medicine, we are not permitted to describe or promote it in public information. We can explain everything fully and answer all of your questions during a private consultation, once you have been assessed.

How long does it last?

Any effect is not permanent and wears off over time, so treatment is typically repeated periodically to maintain comfort. Your practitioner will discuss expected timing with you at your consultation, keeping in mind that results vary between individuals.

Who provides the treatment?

Your consultation and any treatment are provided by Nurse Caitlin, our Registered Nurse and owner, in line with appropriate medical oversight and prescribing requirements.

Are there risks?

As with any medical treatment, there are potential risks and side effects. These will be explained to you in full during your consultation so you can make an informed choice.

How do I start?

By booking a consultation. There is no obligation to proceed, and it is simply an opportunity to have your concern assessed and your questions answered.
