Plump. Bridal & Event Preparation

Our guide to glowing radiant skin for your very special day. We are thrilled to be a part of the prep!.

Twelve months is ideal. Six weeks is workable. We will be honest with you about the difference.

If you are reading this eighteen months out with a spreadsheet, wonderful. We can do a great deal with that.

If you are reading this seven weeks out with a rising sense of panic, also wonderful, and please do not spiral. There is a genuinely useful version of this plan for you too, it just looks different, and the worst thing you could do right now is start throwing new products and treatments at your face.

Which brings us to the single most important thing on this page.

The one rule that matters more than any treatment

Nothing new close to the day.

Not a new product, not a new treatment, not a new facialist, not the thing your cousin swears by, not the sheet mask you were given at a hens weekend.

Every reaction we have ever seen in the fortnight before a wedding has come from something introduced too late. Skin that has been stable for months will occasionally take exception to something new, and the odds of that happening are small but the consequences are enormous and entirely unnecessary.

The corollary is the reason to start early. Lead time is not about squeezing in more treatments. It is about having room to find out how your skin responds to something while there is still time for it to settle.

Everything we do in the last month is chosen because it is predictable. That is the entire brief.

Why lead time actually matters

Most timelines tell you when to book things. Very few explain why the intervals are what they are, so here is the biology.

Skin turnover takes about a month, and slows with age. A single treatment works on cells that will have been replaced within four to six weeks. Change that lasts requires repetition across several cycles.

Collagen takes considerably longer. Skin needling and resurfacing trigger a wound-healing cascade, and the collagen laid down in response is remodelled over three to six months. The result you see at your final appointment is not the final result, which is why we want the last one well before your date rather than close to it.

Acne forms weeks before it surfaces. The lesion appearing today began developing in that follicle two to eight weeks ago. Treating acne is treating what has not surfaced yet, which is why it needs eight to twelve weeks before anyone can judge it.

Pigment clears slowly. Post-inflammatory marks fade over months. IPL lifts pigment across one to two weeks per session with a course spaced three to four weeks apart. Melasma is managed rather than cleared and needs the longest runway of anything on this page.

Retinoids need an adjustment period. Four to twelve weeks of the skin looking worse before better. Not something to begin in month eleven of a twelve-month plan.

Add all that up and twelve months is not a sales tactic. It is roughly what the biology requires if you want meaningful change rather than a nice facial.

The twelve month plan

This is the shape of it. Your version will differ, because it is built backward from your date and around what your skin actually needs.

Twelve to nine months out

Assessment first. Wood's lamp, dermatoscope, a proper conversation, and a plan built backward from your date rather than forward from today.

This is also when we work out what is realistic. If you have significant acne scarring and eleven months, we will tell you what that will and will not achieve. Honest expectations set now prevent disappointment later.

Home care established. The foundation, and the thing that does most of the work. Barrier first, then actives introduced one at a time with proper gaps.

Anything with real downtime happens now. Medium-depth peels, any significant resurfacing, and the beginning of collagen work. This is the only window where downtime costs you nothing.

Corrective work begins. Active acne controlled. Pigment addressed. Scarring sequenced properly, with release before resurfacing where there is tethering.

Nine to six months out

The main corrective phase, and where most of the visible change happens.

Courses of skin needling with medical boosters, spaced four to six weeks apart. Peels progressing through the levels as tolerance builds. IPL for pigment and vascular concerns. Reassessment along the way, because plans change and so does skin.

Six to four months out

Continue and refine. Reassess against where you started, using standardised photographs rather than memory.

This is the last window for anything new. A new active, a treatment you have not had before, a change of direction. After this point we are consolidating rather than experimenting.

Four to three months out

Last significant resurfacing. Level Three peels and any medium-depth work happen here at the latest, so there is time for full recovery and for the collagen response to develop.

Makeup trial. Do it now rather than later, and do it after your skin has settled from treatment rather than before. Trialling makeup on skin that is mid-course tells you very little.

Eight weeks out

Last skin needling. Redness settles in days but collagen remodelling continues for months, and we want that working for you rather than still in progress.

Six weeks out

Last Level Two peel and last IPL session. Both need time for full clearing, and IPL in particular can produce a period of darkening before pigment lifts.

Four weeks out

Last Level One peel or enzyme treatment. Gentle, predictable, no downtime.

From this point, nothing new. Nothing stronger. No experiments.

Two weeks out

Hydration, barrier support, and nothing else active. LED and lymphatic drainage are both appropriate and both genuinely useful.

If something flares in this window, contact us rather than reaching for something in the cupboard. There is almost always a sensible calming option and there is rarely a good self-prescribed one.

The final week

LED. Lymphatic drainage. A gentle hydrating facial if you would like one.

No extractions. No peels. No dermaplaning if you have not had it before. Nothing that could conceivably leave a mark.

Clean pillowcases, more water than you think, and as much sleep as the week allows.

The day before

Nothing new. Your normal routine, a hydrating mask if it is one you have used many times, and an early night.

The morning of

Exactly what you always do. This is not the day to improvise.

If you have less time than that

Most people do, and we would rather help you properly than make you feel behind.

The honest position is that a shorter timeline changes what is achievable, not whether we can help. What it does mean is that we prioritise differently, and we are more conservative, because there is no room to recover from something that does not suit you.

Six months. Genuinely plenty. Most of the corrective work above still fits, just with less margin. We will simply be firmer about sequencing.

Three months. We focus on skin quality rather than structural change. Hydration, barrier, tone, clarity and congestion all respond in this window. We will avoid anything with meaningful downtime and we will not start a retinoid you have never used.

Six weeks. Now we are optimising rather than correcting. Gentle peels or enzyme treatments, LED, lymphatic drainage, hydration and a simple home routine you will actually keep. Done well, that produces skin that looks noticeably better and, importantly, entirely predictable.

Two weeks. LED, lymphatic drainage, hydration and honest advice. That is not nothing. Calm, hydrated, well-rested skin photographs beautifully, and it is a great deal better than reactive skin that has been panicked at.

What we will not do is cram a twelve-month plan into eight weeks because you asked. That is the fastest route to arriving at your wedding with skin that looks worse than it did when you booked, and no reputable clinic should agree to it.

If you are late, you are in extremely good company. Come in anyway.

What we will not do in the final stretch

We would rather set this out plainly than have the conversation while you are stressed.

Nothing you have not had before, inside the last three months.

No medium-depth peels or significant resurfacing inside three months.

No skin needling inside eight weeks.

No IPL inside six weeks.

No extractions or dermaplaning in the final week.

No new home care products in the final six weeks.

If you ask us for something in these windows, we will explain why not and offer you what we can do instead. That conversation costs us a booking. It is considerably cheaper than the alternative.

The part nobody talks about: stress

Planning a wedding is genuinely stressful, and stress is not a soft factor where skin is concerned.

Elevated cortisol increases sebum production, drives inflammation, impairs barrier recovery and slows healing. Disrupted sleep measurably reduces collagen production. And a great many brides also change their diet, drink more coffee, sleep less, and travel more in the same period.

We see the consequences of this constantly, usually somewhere between eight and four weeks out, right on schedule, and it catches people completely off guard because their routine has not changed.

This is one area where being a medical-dermal clinic with a naturopath and a wellness room genuinely helps rather than being a nice extra.

Naturopathic support where sleep, stress load, digestion or nutrition are contributing. Worth starting early rather than in the final month.

The wellness room, with its infrared sauna, cold plunge and private shower, in a fully private, solo-use space. Worth knowing that heat can provoke pigment and flushing, so if melasma or redness is part of your picture we will talk about timing rather than assuming.

The best skin advice we can give you for the fortnight before your wedding is not a product. It is sleep, water, and something that lowers your shoulders.

Lymphatic drainage, which brides book more than anything else

This has quietly become one of our most requested bridal treatments, and for good reason.

It de-puffs. Facial puffiness is the single most common complaint in the final fortnight, and it is also the one that responds fastest. Light, rhythmic manual work encourages stagnant fluid back into the lymphatic pathways, and the difference through the jaw, under the eyes and across the cheeks is usually visible immediately.

It de-stresses, measurably. A single-blind randomised controlled trial in healthy subjects found a significant reduction in salivary cortisol after manual lymphatic drainage. Given what stress does to skin in the weeks before a wedding, a treatment with a documented effect on stress physiology is doing more than feeling lovely.

It asks nothing of your skin. No actives, no exfoliation, no possibility of a reaction. Which makes it one of the very few things we are comfortable performing in the final week, including the day before.

And if you are having a destination wedding, book it around your travel.

Long-haul flights are genuinely dehydrating and reliably produce fluid retention. Cabin pressure, sitting still for many hours, disrupted sleep and often a fair amount of wine combine to make most people arrive noticeably puffy. Add a change of climate, a change of water, and a schedule that starts the moment you land.

The pattern that works is drainage in the days before you fly, and again once you arrive with a couple of days to spare. If you are marrying overseas, tell us your travel dates at consultation and we will build the timing around them rather than around the wedding date alone.

Alida also offers remedial face release and TMJ release, which are separate treatments and particularly useful if you are clenching your jaw at night, which a surprising number of people are doing by month ten of planning a wedding.

Cosmetic medicine alongside your skin plan

A great many of our bridal patients are either already having cosmetic medicine treatment or are considering beginning it, and this is where being a medical-dermal clinic genuinely earns its keep.

What we cannot do is discuss the detail here. Australian advertising regulations administered by the TGA, alongside AHPRA's guidelines for advertising regulated health services, place strict limits on what a clinic may publish about certain cosmetic medical treatments. That conversation belongs in a proper medical consultation with a qualified practitioner, which we offer at no cost.

What we can tell you is why having both under one roof matters for an event.

When your skin work and your medical work are handled by separate clinics, nobody is sequencing across the two. Appointments collide. Something is performed too close to something else. Recovery windows overlap. And the person carrying the coordination is you, usually while also organising a wedding.

Here, one team builds one schedule. Caitlin leads the medical side, Belinda and Sammi handle the dermal work, Alida covers the internal picture and lymphatic support, and all of it is planned backward from the same date. That means treatments are spaced so they support rather than compete with each other, recovery windows are respected, and everything is timed to peak at the right moment rather than three weeks late.

The one principle we will state plainly is the same one that governs everything else on this page. Anything of this nature should be well established in advance, and never performed for the first time close to a date. If it is something you are considering, raise it early rather than in the final months.

If you would like to explore it, mention it when you book and we will arrange a complimentary medical consultation alongside your skin consultation, so the whole plan is built together from the start.

Grooms, partners and the bridal party

Grooms and partners are welcome and increasingly common, and the plan is the same in structure. Congestion, texture, redness and shaving irritation are the usual concerns, and men frequently see fast improvement because they are often starting from no routine at all.

The same rules about timing apply, including the one about not trying anything new in the final month.

Bridal parties are also welcome. If several of you want to come in together we can arrange it, and there is genuine value in the whole party having consistent, calm skin in the photographs rather than one person having had a peel three days out.

We would just ask that everyone books their own consultation. Skin is individual and a group plan is not a plan.

Not getting married?

This page works for any occasion where you want to look and feel like yourself on a specific date.

Milestone birthdays. A significant work event or awards night. A school formal. A christening or naming day. A big anniversary. A photoshoot. A first holiday in years.

The principle is identical. Build backward from the date, do the meaningful work early, and keep the final fortnight boring and predictable.

One thing about the honeymoon

Worth raising, because almost nobody thinks of it and we would rather you heard it from us.

If you are going somewhere sunny, and particularly if you have had pigment treatment or are prone to melasma, the two weeks after your wedding carry real risk. Freshly treated skin is more vulnerable to UV, and melasma in particular can be provoked by heat as well as light.

You do not need to spend your honeymoon indoors. You do need proper sun protection, a hat, and awareness that a week of unprotected sun can undo months of work.

We will talk it through, and if your honeymoon is somewhere tropical we will factor it into the plan rather than pretending it is not happening.

How we build your plan

We are a medical-dermal clinic. Caitlin is a Registered Nurse with ten years in cosmetic medicine, Belinda and Sammi are our Senior Dermal Clinicians, both holding a Bachelor of Dermal Science, and Alida is our naturopath and lymphatic specialist.

Bring your date. That is the single most useful thing you can arrive with, because everything is planned backward from it.

At consultation we assess your skin under Wood's lamp and dermatoscope, establish what your primary concern actually is, and map the plan against your calendar. You will leave with a written schedule showing what happens when, what it costs across the whole sequence, and where the cut-off dates fall.

We will also tell you honestly what your timeline will and will not achieve. If you want something we do not think is realistic in the time available, you will hear that at the first appointment rather than at the last.

Packages and what it costs

Yes, we offer packages, and they are one of the more sensible ways to do this.

Committing to a full sequence rather than booking treatment by treatment is usually better value, it holds your appointments across a busy year, and it means the plan is paid for and mapped out rather than being reconsidered every six weeks alongside everything else you are organising.

What we do not do is sell them off a shelf.

Your package is built during your consultation, backward from your date and around what your skin actually needs. Two people with the same wedding date frequently need entirely different sequences, and a fixed bundle either includes treatments you do not need or omits the one thing that would have made the difference.

So the order of events is assessment first, then the plan, then the package that delivers it.

What you will leave with is a written schedule showing every treatment, when it happens, where the cut-off dates fall, and the total cost across the whole sequence rather than one appointment at a time. You can see the full number before committing to anything and plan it against everything else you are paying for this year.

If your budget is fixed, tell us the number. It changes what we recommend rather than whether we help, and there is almost always a version that fits. Occasionally the honest answer is that we would rather do three things properly than seven things partially, and we will say so.

Cosmetic and dermal treatments do not attract a Medicare rebate.

Frequently asked questions

When should I book my first appointment?

As soon as you have a date. Even if you are two years out, an early consultation costs you nothing and tells you whether your concerns need a long runway.

If you are already close, book now rather than agonising over whether it is too late.

Is twelve months really necessary?

Necessary for meaningful structural change, such as significant acne scarring or established pigmentation. Not necessary for skin that simply looks tired and needs clarity, hydration and glow, which is a shorter project.

We will tell you which category you are in.

What if I break out the week before?

Contact us rather than attacking it. There are calming options that will not make it worse, and almost everything people reach for at home in that moment does.

Please do not pick. That converts a mark that would have faded into one that will not.

Can I get a facial the day before?

We would rather you had one four to seven days before. Skin can look flushed for a few hours afterwards, and the day before leaves no margin at all.

If you want something on the day before, LED is the safe answer.

What about fake tan?

Apply it after any treatment rather than before, avoid it entirely on skin that has just been peeled, and patch test if it is a new brand. Tan sits differently on freshly resurfaced skin and can go patchy.

Tell us if you are planning to tan and when, because it also affects IPL suitability.

Can I have injectable treatments before my wedding?

That is a medical conversation rather than something we can discuss on a webpage, and there are strict advertising rules around it. If it is something you are considering, mention it at consultation and we will arrange a complimentary medical consultation to discuss it properly and lawfully.

What we will say generally is that anything of that nature should be done well in advance, never for the first time close to a date.

I have melasma. What can I realistically expect?

Improvement, with disciplined sun protection, and management rather than clearance. Melasma is chronic and it needs the longest lead time of anything on this page. If you have it and a date, come in early.

Do you do bridal packages?

Yes. What we do not do is offer fixed bundles you choose from before anyone has looked at your skin.

Your package is built during your consultation, backward from your date and around your actual concerns, and you will see the full itemised cost across the whole sequence before committing to anything.

How to book, and which option to choose

You will see a few options, and we would rather explain them than have you guess.

Initial Skin Consultation. The full assessment. Wood's lamp, dermatoscope, a proper conversation, and a written schedule built backward from your date. No treatment on the day. If you are early and want to understand your skin before committing to anything, start here.

Skin Consultation with LED. The same assessment followed by an LED treatment. Gentle, suits essentially every skin, and carries no capacity to provoke anything, which makes it the one treatment we can safely add before we know you.

"I'm not sure." Exactly what it says. If you have a date and no idea what you need, choose this. It is chosen often and it is not a lesser option.

Skin Consultation plus a treatment of your choice. For the keen, and for anyone who is already short on time. Select the assessment alongside whichever treatment you had in mind, and if it is right for you on the day, that is what we will do.

And if you would like to discuss cosmetic medicine as well, say so when you book and we will arrange a complimentary medical consultation alongside it, so the whole plan is built together.

Whatever you book, bring your date

It is the single most useful thing you can arrive with, because everything is planned backward from it. Bring your travel dates too if you are marrying away.

Photographs are welcome and a list of what you are currently using is helpful. You do not need to bring the products themselves.

If the treatment you booked is not the right one

Occasionally someone books something specific and, once we have properly assessed the skin, it is not what should happen first, or it does not sit well against the time remaining.

If that happens we will explain exactly why, treat you with something appropriate on the day rather than sending you home having had nothing, and map out clearly how we get you to where you want to be before your date.

You are not being talked out of something. You are being sequenced into it properly, and with a deadline that matters, sequencing is the whole job.

Book a complimentary skin consultation

Bring your date. We will build the plan backward from it, tell you honestly what is achievable in the time you have, and give you a written schedule you can actually follow.

There is no cost and no obligation, and it is never too early to have the conversation.
