The treatment we have been waiting to be able to offer.
The treatment we have been waiting to be able to offer.
Something significant is arriving at Plump. We are adding fractional CO2 resurfacing to the clinic, in the form of the DEKA SmartXide Tetra Pro, the platform behind the CoolPeel treatment. It is the largest investment we have made in the clinic, and it fills the last remaining gap in what we can do for skin.
We have built this clinic deliberately, one capability at a time, and always by identifying what we could not yet do properly rather than by buying what was fashionable.
Peels gave us the surface and the epidermis. Skin needling gave us collagen and the dermis. LED gave us inflammation and repair. IPL gave us the vascular system and discrete pigment.
What remained was genuine resurfacing.
There is a category of concern that none of those treatments fully reach. Established textural change. Deeper acne scarring. The etched lines and coarse, leathery quality that decades of Australian sun leave behind. Enlarged pores that have lost their structural support. The kind of surface deterioration where the answer is not to treat the skin but to remove a controlled portion of it and let it rebuild.
CO2 remains the most capable resurfacing technology available for exactly that. It has been the reference standard in ablative resurfacing for decades.
The historic problem was always the trade-off. Traditional CO2 delivered outstanding results and asked for one to two weeks of significant, visible, socially difficult downtime. That was a genuine barrier, and for a great many people it made the treatment academic.
That trade-off is what has changed.
CoolPeel is not a different laser. It is a specific way of using this one, and the distinction is worth understanding because it explains the whole proposition.
Conventional CO2 works by heating. Energy is delivered into the tissue, water in the skin absorbs it, tissue is vaporised, and heat spreads into the surrounding area. That surrounding thermal damage is what drives collagen remodelling. It is also what drives the redness, swelling and prolonged recovery.
CoolPeel changes the pulse. The Tetra Pro carries DEKA's Pulse Shape Design technology, which allows complete control over the duration, energy and shape of every pulse rather than a fixed output.
CoolPeel uses one specific mode, the H-Pulse, which delivers very high peak power across an extremely short pulse duration. The energy is deposited and gone before meaningful heat can diffuse outward.
The result is a genuinely ablative treatment with minimal thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. You get true resurfacing of the surface layer, and you do not get the week of thermal recovery that traditionally came with it.
That is the innovation, and it is a real one rather than a marketing distinction.
This is the part that matters most to us, and the reason we chose this platform specifically rather than a dedicated single-purpose device.
The Tetra Pro is not a CoolPeel machine. It is a full CO2 platform on which CoolPeel is one available protocol.
Four pulse modes. Smart Pulse, DEKA Pulse, High Pulse and continuous wave, each producing a different balance of ablation against thermal effect.
Complete pulse shape control through Pulse Shape Design, meaning depth, energy and thermal spread are all independently adjustable rather than selected from presets.
Forty watts of power and a twenty by twenty millimetre scanner, which means larger areas are covered more efficiently and treatment times are shorter.
Multiple scanning systems, including a dedicated scar handpiece capable of working at genuine depth, and a precision handpiece for delicate areas.
MOVEO in-motion mode, the first of its kind on a CO2 platform, allowing blended in-motion treatment for softer, more gradual work across larger areas.
SmartStack thermal control, which manages the scanning path to prevent local heat accumulation.
What that range means for you. The same device can deliver a ten-minute, minimal-downtime refresh at one end and a genuine deep resurfacing treatment for established scarring at the other. Which one you receive is a clinical decision based on your skin, your concern and how much recovery you can accommodate.
That flexibility is exactly why we bought this platform and not a simpler one. It is the same reasoning behind our peel levels and our IPL filter set. We would rather hold the full range and select correctly than hold one setting and hope it fits.
Acne scarring. The most significant addition. CO2 works at depths and with a precision that neither peels nor needling reach, and for established atrophic scarring it is the most capable tool available.
Textural change and surface quality. Roughness, unevenness, and the general loss of refinement that accumulates with sun and time.
Fine lines and etched wrinkles, particularly around the mouth and eyes where the skin is thin and lines become fixed.
Photodamage. The coarse, thickened, mottled quality of long-term sun exposure.
Enlarged pores, by resurfacing and by stimulating the collagen that supports the follicular opening.
Overall skin quality, where CoolPeel in particular offers a genuine refresh with a recovery most people can plan around.
The device arrives shortly, and we will be in touch the moment it is ready.
Before we treat anyone with it, our clinicians complete full manufacturer training and certification. We will not rush that, and we would rather open bookings a fortnight later than we hoped than open them a fortnight early.
If you are already a patient with us, your plan may already be building toward this. Several of the scarring and photodamage plans we have written this year were sequenced with this arrival in mind. If that applies to you, we will raise it at your next appointment.
If you are new to us, the best thing you can do is come in for a consultation now. Resurfacing requires prepared skin, and preparation takes weeks.
We will be opening a limited number of appointments first to those who have registered.
To be first to know:
Register your interest through the form below, or call or text us on 0478 844 048 and ask to be added to the list.
We will contact you with confirmed availability, pricing and what the treatment involves for your particular skin.
Or book a complimentary skin consultation now, and we will assess whether this is the right treatment for you, begin preparing your skin if it is, and put you at the front of the queue when it arrives.
When exactly will it be available?
Shortly. We are deliberately not naming a date until the device is installed and our clinicians are fully certified, because we would rather under-promise on timing than reschedule you. Register your interest and you will hear from us before it is announced publicly.
What is the downtime for CoolPeel?
CoolPeel is widely described as a treatment with minimal downtime, generally involving a few days of redness and light flaking rather than the one to two weeks associated with traditional CO2. Deeper settings on the same platform involve correspondingly more recovery. We will be specific with you about which treatment you are having and what to expect from it, and we will not describe a deeper resurfacing treatment as though it were a CoolPeel.
Is this the same as the CO2 laser I have read about?
It is the same technology used differently. CO2 has been the reference standard in resurfacing for decades. What has changed is the pulse control, which allows the same laser to deliver anything from a very superficial refresh to a genuine deep resurfacing.
Will it help my acne scarring?
Very possibly, and it depends on your scar type. Rolling scars tethered from below still need releasing first. Ice pick scars are narrow and deep and respond differently. Boxcar scars and general textural change are where resurfacing does its best work. We will assess and sequence it properly rather than treating everything with the newest device.
How much will it cost?
Pricing will depend on the depth of treatment and the area treated, and will be confirmed closer to launch. Register your interest and we will contact you with details.
Should I wait for this instead of starting treatment now?
Almost certainly not, and this is genuinely important. Resurfacing works considerably better on prepared skin. Barrier, pigment control and any active acne all need addressing beforehand, and preparation takes weeks. Waiting does not put you ahead, it puts you behind. If resurfacing is likely to be part of your plan, the right thing to do is start preparing now.
Can I have it before an event?
Not close to one. Even CoolPeel needs several days, and deeper treatments need considerably longer. We would want a minimum of three months before any significant date for deeper work.
