Plump. Enhancing Features and Facial Balancing

Restoring structure, softening and bringing the face into balance, always with subtlety.

Restoring structure, softening and bringing the face into balance, always with subtlety.

The face is defined not just by its lines but by its structure, contours and proportions. Over time, and simply as part of ageing, the face can lose support and volume in key areas. This can soften definition, allow features to descend, and create shadows or heaviness that can make us look more tired or older than we feel. In other cases, features have always sat slightly out of balance with one another. Enhancing features and facial balancing is about thoughtfully adding or restoring support and volume where it is needed, to soften, refresh and bring the face into greater harmony, while always keeping you looking like yourself.

At Plump, this is never about changing who you are or chasing a trend or a single ideal face. It is about understanding your individual features and proportions, and making considered, subtle refinements that enhance your natural beauty rather than mask it.

Balance, proportion and the art of harmony

True beauty is strongly linked to balance and proportion, and this is what guides every treatment plan. Nurse Caitlin assesses your features against the classic principles of facial harmony, including the facial thirds, the facial fifths, and the golden ratio.

The facial thirds divide the face horizontally into three parts: from the hairline to the brows, from the brows to the base of the nose, and from the base of the nose to the bottom of the chin. When these three sections sit in pleasing proportion, the face reads as balanced and harmonious.

The facial fifths divide the face vertically into five equal parts, each about the width of one eye, running from one side of the face to the other. This helps assess symmetry and the balance and spacing of features across the face.

The golden ratio, often expressed as approximately 1 to 1.618 and known as phi, is a proportion found throughout nature and art that the human eye consistently perceives as beautiful and balanced. In facial aesthetics it is used as a guide to how features relate to one another in size, position and proportion. Faces that sit closer to these proportions tend to be perceived as naturally harmonious.

Considering these principles matters because features are never treated in isolation. Understanding how your thirds, fifths and proportions relate allows any enhancement to support the balance of the whole face, so the result looks cohesive and natural rather than obvious or out of place.

Nurse Caitlin's aesthetic eye

Beyond the science of proportion sits something just as important: a genuinely experienced aesthetic eye. Nurse Caitlin brings years of experience and a deep understanding of facial anatomy and harmony to every assessment, combined with an artistic sensibility for what will enhance a particular face rather than simply fill or change it. She uses the principles of the facial thirds, fifths and the golden ratio not as rigid rules, but as a framework to guide subtle, considered decisions, always weighed against your unique features, your natural beauty and what you want to feel when you look in the mirror. It is this blend of clinical knowledge and artistry that allows her to create results that are balanced, natural and unmistakably you.

How we approach it

Every treatment begins with a thorough consultation and assessment with Nurse Caitlin, to understand your features, your concerns and your goals, and to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you. Where clinically suitable, a personalised plan is designed specifically for your face and your proportions.

Some of these treatments involve a prescription medicine or a medical device. Australian law does not permit these to be described or promoted in public information, so the specifics, including how a treatment works, the expected outcomes and the associated risks, can only be discussed with you privately during your consultation, and only after you have been assessed and it has been determined to be suitable. There is never any obligation to proceed.

What to expect

Outcomes vary from person to person and are never guaranteed. A review may be recommended to assess how you have responded, and results are not necessarily permanent. All relevant information, including suitability, alternatives, expected outcomes and potential risks and side effects, will be explained fully during your consultation so you can make an informed decision in your own time.

Best suited for

  • Softening, refreshing and restoring support to the face
  • Enhancing natural features while keeping a balanced, harmonious result
  • A whole-face approach guided by facial proportion rather than treating one area in isolation
  • Those who want subtle, natural-looking enhancement rather than an obvious or overdone result
  • Adults seeking a medically-guided, individually-assessed treatment plan

Frequently asked questions

Will I still look like myself?

Yes, that is the priority. The aim is subtle enhancement that supports your natural features and overall balance, so you look refreshed and harmonious rather than changed or overdone.

Why do you assess my whole face rather than just one area?

Because features work together as a connected whole. Assessing your proportions, including the facial thirds, fifths and the golden ratio, allows Nurse Caitlin to keep your face balanced and natural, which is what makes results look harmonious.

Can you tell me exactly what the treatment is on this page?

Not in detail. Where a treatment involves a prescription medicine or medical device, we are not permitted to describe or promote it publicly. Everything can be explained fully, and all your questions answered, during a private consultation once you have been assessed.

Who performs the treatment?

Your consultation and any treatment are provided by Nurse Caitlin, our Registered Nurse and owner, in line with appropriate medical oversight and prescribing requirements.

Are there risks?

As with any medical treatment, there are potential risks and side effects. These will be explained to you in full during your consultation so you can make an informed choice.
