A facial built to calm active breakouts, not aggravate them.
The Acne Treatment is our in-clinic treatment for congested, inflamed and breakout-prone skin, built around staged approach as this allows a slow. steady progressive results and change.
Drawing on years of experience, the PLUMP Team curated this Level 1 to Level 2 Acne Treatment to treat the different types and presentations of acne holistically, calming and clearing congested, addressing the inflamed skin the progressing to the prevention and addressing texture/scarring. Each treatment is tailored to your skin following a comprehensive assessment, so your acne is the short and long term.
Where our chemical peel program and skin needling work on deeper, structural change, this is the appointment we reach for when skin is actively inflamed, reactive, or simply needs consistent, gentle clearing between more corrective treatments. It is frequently the starting point for a new acne plan and the maintenance appointment for an established one.Every Acne Treatment begins with a proper look at the skin under magnification, because congestion, bacterial activity and inflammation all look different up close, and treating the wrong one gets you nowhere.
Introductory level. Calm and clear.
What’s included:
Level 1 is the starting point for most acne journeys with us. Before we can work on bacteria, texture or scarring, the skin barrier needs to be calm, intact and properly hydrated, because inflamed or compromised skin will resist almost every active treatment we try to use on it. This is where we begin repairing the barrier, calming inflammation and starting the process of clearing active breakouts, gently, without over-treating reactive skin.
Level 1 is a gentle, restorative introduction to professional acne management, designed for those experiencing active breakouts, congestion, redness or sensitised, acne-prone skin. This entry-level treatment focuses on reducing inflammation, supporting skin barrier repair and beginning the process of clearing the skin without unnecessary irritation.
Using a combination of targeted clinical skincare, gentle exfoliation, extractions and LED light therapy, we work to calm active breakouts, reduce acne-causing bacteria and create a healthier environment for long-term skin recovery.
Your treatment. Your appointment begins with a comprehensive skin assessment, followed by a double cleanse using iS Clinical products to prepare the skin. A gentle exfoliation removes surface build-up and optimises product penetration before careful extractions are carried out to safely clear congestion and reduce comedones.
A customised treatment mask is then applied to calm inflammation, replenish hydration and support skin repair, followed by MediLUX LED light therapy to reduce inflammation, target acne-causing bacteria and accelerate the skin's natural healing response. Your appointment concludes with personalised home care advice and treatment recommendations to support your results and ongoing skin health.
Best suited for:
Level 1 provides the foundation for healthy skin function and can be performed as a standalone treatment or as the first step in a personalised acne treatment plan.
Intermediate level. Calm and clear.
What’s included:
Level 2 is where the real work begins. Once the barrier is less inflamed, intact and hydration levels have been restored, we can move on to clearing acne-causing bacteria, helping to prevent new breakouts forming, and start addressing skin texture, tone and redness, including treating or helping to prevent acne scarring.
Level 2 is a more advanced clinical treatment designed for patients experiencing persistent breakouts, congestion and inflammatory acne who require a more targeted approach to improving skin clarity and function. Building on the foundations of Level 1, it combines LED light therapy, professional extractions and a customised chemical peel to target acne-causing bacteria, reduce inflammation, refine congestion and support healthier skin renewal.
This treatment is designed to actively treat acne while maintaining skin barrier health, making it suitable for patients who require a more results-focused approach but still need careful management of inflammation and sensitivity.
Your treatment. Following a comprehensive skin assessment, your treatment includes a double cleanse using iS Clinical products to prepare the skin, followed by LED light therapy performed early in the treatment to calm inflammation, target acne-associated bacteria and support the skin's natural healing response prior to corrective treatment.
A customised Level 1 or Level 2 chemical peel is then selected based on your skin condition and tolerance, helping to refine congestion, regulate cellular turnover, reduce breakout formation and improve overall skin clarity and texture. Professional extractions are performed to safely remove congestion and comedones, followed by targeted finishing products to soothe, hydrate and support skin recovery. Your appointment concludes with personalised home care advice and ongoing treatment recommendations to optimise results and support long-term skin health.
Suitable treatment progression is determined following your skin assessment, with peel strength and treatment frequency tailored to your acne severity, skin sensitivity and overall skin goals.
Mild to moderate congestion and comedonal breakouts.
Inflamed, reactive skin that needs calming rather than more actives.
Maintenance between chemical peel or skin needling courses, keeping congestion under control between corrective treatments.
Skin that has been over-treated at home and needs a professional reset.
Suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding in its gentle form, when many other options are off the table. Tell us at consultation and we will adjust accordingly.
It will not manage cystic or nodular acne on its own. Deep, painful, firm lesions need a proper assessment and often prescription management. We will tell you plainly if that is what we are seeing, and we will help you get to the right person.
It will not replace a course of chemical peels or skin needling where the goal is pigmentation, scarring, or textural change. This facial calms and clears. It does not remodel collagen or lift established pigment.
It will not replace being consistent with your recommended homecare. It will not "un-do" the lifestyle impacts of diet, stress, lack of sleep, picking, HIIT, heated or strenuous exercise. Yes, those hot pilates classes are in fact a big contributing factor to your skin breakouts.
A single session will not clear established acne. Like everything else in this category, it works cumulatively. Follow the plan and regime we provide based on the decades of experience we have in helping many other sin similar skin roller-coasters of acne and breakouts.
During. You will feel steam, gentle pressure during extractions, and a light tingle from any exfoliating step. Extractions can be mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, and we will always tell you what we are doing and why.
Immediately after. Skin may look flushed for a few hours, particularly around any area that was extracted. This settles quickly.
Downtime. Little to none for most people. Congested areas that were extracted may look slightly more visible for a day before settling down, which is normal and expected.
Makeup. We would rather you gave your skin a few hours before applying makeup, though it is not mandatory.
For active congestion, every two to four weeks tends to give the most consistent result, alongside home care built specifically for your skin.
For maintenance, monthly is typical, particularly between peel or needling courses.
This is very often combined with LED, a peel, or scheduled around your needling appointments rather than treated as a stand-alone once-off.
This is rarely the whole plan and it is very often part of one. We use it as the calm, low-risk option when skin is too inflamed or reactive for anything stronger, as maintenance between peel and needling courses, and as the starting point for a new acne assessment before we decide what else, if anything, the skin is ready for.
Suitable for most congested and breakout-prone skin, including sensitive and reactive presentations, and adaptable for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
We would treat this cautiously, or not at all, over active cystic or nodular lesions, on a severely compromised barrier, or over active cold sores or skin infection in the area. We will tell you plainly at consultation if we think a different treatment, or a referral, is the better starting point.
Pricing depends on which level is right for your skin. Book now to see pricing and secure your appointment — we will confirm the exact level and cost with you at consultation, so you always know the price before you go ahead.
Will extractions hurt?
Most people find it mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. We work carefully and will always stop if something isn't ready to be extracted.
Can I wear makeup afterwards?
You can, though we would rather you gave your skin a few hours to settle first.
Is this suitable for teenage skin?
Yes. We treat conservatively and keep teenage protocols simple, gentle and consistent rather than aggressive.
I have quite severe, painful acne. Is this the right treatment?
It may be part of your plan, but deep, painful or cystic acne usually needs a proper assessment first, and sometimes a referral for prescription treatment. We will tell you honestly what we see.
How is this different from your chemical peels?
This facial calms, clears and maintains. Our chemical peel program works at a deeper level to correct pigmentation, texture and the after-effects of acne. Many people have both, at different points in their plan.
Can I have this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Yes, in its gentle form. Tell us at consultation and we will adjust the treatment accordingly.
Whether the Acne Treatment is the right starting point, or part of a broader plan, is a decision we make with your skin in front of us. Book a consultation and we will assess properly and tell you honestly where to start.
There is no cost and no obligation.
